While the rest of the tax market might be contracting - there is one area that appears to be booming and that is Tax Investigations. In the last week Georgiana Head Recruitment have been instructed to recruit for new roles in Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham and London. These include a newly created role for a Head of Tax Investigations - which could be based in either Leeds, London, Birmingham or Scotland.
This week it was reported that the HMR&C collected 13% more tax in 2007/2008 than in 2006/2007 and in part this is due to more aggressive tactics from the Revenue. Its unsurprising then that a raft of firms are looking to protect their clients' interests by taking on Investigations specialists.
