Billy Cairns a VAT specialist at PKF has been promoted to partner in the Leeds office.

Billy has been promoted to partner for VAT services, covering an area including Leeds, reflecting his achievements in developing indirect tax related work and expanding the dedicated VAT team.

He joined PKF as a director five years ago and has more than 25 years' experience of dealing with VAT services.

As Billy says: "In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in demand from our clients for more detailed advice on VAT at value for money rates. In the light of the Government's temporary changes in VAT effective from 1 December, this trend looks set to continue. Businesses increasingly require greater levels of advice and information about how to work most effectively with the VAT system to ensure that they gain the full benefits.

"Over the last five years we have developed the team extensively in the north of England, employing a further seven experts. We have also devised a number of simple, non-aggressive products that can provide significant cash flow and permanent savings for businesses. In my new role I am looking forward to developing such services."

Tim Entwistle, managing partner, of PKF in Leeds said: "Billy has brought a great deal of knowledge and experience to our tax team in the north. The promotion reflects his dedication and drive to build on our existing VAT strengths. The firm has been experiencing a sustained level of growth, and Billy's new role will be vital in driving the firm forward in the future."

Billy trained in customs and since 1988 has been a specialist VAT advisor in the accountancy profession, including 13 years with Big 4 firms. Billy leads PKF's northern region’s growing Indirect tax practice in providing both clients and non-clients with high quality VAT advice and assistance at value for money rates.
